Popularity:
Usage for this name is moderate to fairly common among older generations (mainly men) – over 0.07% of men who have this name are recorded in telephone book data.
Regarding Heisei period (1989-2019) popularity, usage for that period is uncommon. In 1990, it was given to 0.021% of boys and 0.003% of girls. The percentage for girls never went above 0.005%, though it rose slightly for boys at 0.04% in 1996, peaking at around 0.087% before dropping to around 0.022% in 2007.
The 2000 peak owes to the fact that 2000, for the most part, was the Year of the Dragon, which saw other names containing 龍/竜 or 辰 rise in that year and then drop the following year, mainly below where they ranked in the year before the Year of the Dragon.
